Nina Francis Smith, age 90 of Fremont CA, graduated to Heaven on September 16, 2020. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas to Frank and Ada Wells. She was one of 9 children who grew up in Cass and Ozark, Arkansas.
Nina viewed this earth as her temporary home and knew that her permanent address would be with Jesus, her Savior and Lord.
She was blessed to be married to the love of her life, Gene Smith for 74 years. They were love birds until she took her last breath laying beside him.
Nina was a second Mom or Granny to many. She was known for her love and hospitality. She would never let you go hungry and would mend or sew whatever you needed. Her garden was rivaled by few. She harvested giant tomatoes, beautiful flowers, aloe for your wounds and the sweetest, juiciest apples. She loved to take care of her family and friends. Nina and Gene enjoyed traveling especially with their friends Ken & Joyce Birch. She loved to go to church to serve and worship God. It gave her great joy to babysit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her parents, siblings (Harold, Helen, Bob) and many friends will meet her at the gates of heaven.
She left behind, her husband of 74 years, Eugene Smith; Siblings: Irene Roach, Madelyn Rogers, Tom Wells, Patricia Mars, Kathleen Zollicoffer; Children: Frank Smith, his wife Michelle, Mike Smith, his wife Janice, Tish Marquez and her husband Javi; Grandchildren: Michael Smith, Candi Bolar, Heather Smith, Sarah Wiley, Corrie Marquez; Great Grandchildren: Claire Smith, Harrison Smith, Sierra Bolar, Kaleigh Bolar, Guinevere Wiley, James Wiley.
She will be greatly missed. We will see you in heaven. We know the way home.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Nina . She touch my life deeply . Inspired advice that will be with me all my days . Such a beautiful person inside and out. We had some great times with Gene and Nina cruising and out for breakfast after Sunday School. We will never ever forget . Gene and Nina always welcomed us to their home with open arms very generous people . May the tears of Nina’s loss comfort you with knowledge she is in the presents of God. Love and God Bless, Glenn and Karleen Bryner
Nina was one of the most compassion, caring, loving Christians I’ve known. Nothing but fond memories of that time I was pastor of her and her family. Love and condolences to her family!
With much love,
Henry and Melanie Wiley
I weep for her passing but rejoice at her homecoming. “For you shall go out in joy, and be led forth in peace; the hills and the mountains before you shall break forth into singing and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands” at her homecoming.
Remembering a life that touched so many.
Love and Prayers,
Loren and Betty Inglish
