Retha Edwards passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 3, 2018.
Born May 11, 1943 in Arnett, West Virginia to Dean and Maxine Daniel, she was the younger sister to Judy Taylor and older sister to Lowell Lee Daniel. At the age of 15, she met Tony Edwards, a sailor in the U.S. Navy who came home with a friend during a leave. Tony and Retha married on July 5, 1960. They were married until his passing in 2004. They had 3 children, Antoinette, Judith Renee and Greg. They settled in So. California and lived there until the summer of 1975 when a job transfer moved them to Fremont and lived the rest of their lives in Fremont. Retha was a Christian and her faith sustained her always.
She is survived by her son Greg (Milia), daughter Antoinette Rodrigues (Ken) sister Judy Taylor, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous other extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband Tony Edwards, daughter Renee Edwards, brother Lowell Lee Daniel, granddaughter Amy Rodrigues and great granddaughter Leilah Jubilee Rodrigues. While her family rejoices that she is at rest, they will miss her greatly.
A private ceremony was held. Retha was bold in sharing her faith and with that in mind, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Voice of the Martyrs. https://www.persecution.com/donate/ , an organization that works to bring support to persecuted Christians worldwide.
Prayers and love to you all. Remember her fondly and her care for Josh and Jordan playing together at their home.
So sharing in your sadness and in your joy. Find peace in the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
Though there were many miles between us, and many years since I saw her, we had beautiful phone conversations. And, I loved her deep beauty inside that shined even from afar. She was a special neice to my father, Gerald Daniel. She is dancing in the sky now and united with our loved ones in heaven. Sending love and prayers for comfort to my cousins.
No sting in death. May you all take comfort in those words. Your beloved is home! PTL
I will always love & miss my beautiful Aunt Retha. I don’t believe it will be much longer that we will see her again along with our other born again family member’s. I love you all.
I rejoice knowing that Tony and Retha are together again. My heart is heavy because I will miss her so much. I do not know what I would have done with out Tony and Retha the first years of Anthony’s life. They loved us both unconditionally, and always made me feel a part of the family. I love you Retha, you will be missed. Watch over Anthony for me please. Give Pa a big hug from me.
