Guestbook

  1. Dick Gittings was a tremendous man, father, husband, warrior, and friend to many people and family. He always embraced everyone with smiles and a warm demeanor. I had the pleasure of spending a majority of my life with him restoring houses, working on cars, mowing yards, raising kids and all the other aspects that make life genuinely enjoyable. He was dedicated to his family and always held jobs that supported his loved ones. On his days off he continued to support his family by helping with home projects, baby-sitting grandchildren or just lending an ear to folks needing to talk. Caring for him in his last days made me realize nothing could change his character and strength. Hard work ethics and never give up attitude were ingrained in his persona. He had major health issues and always had the strength and determination to bounce back. He considered cancer just another hurdle in life’s path and beat it down without any significant grief. Heart attacks, surgeries and renal failure were not as important to him as the safety and comfort of others. He had a smile on his face and a positive outlook the day he passed. He leaves a very loving wife Justine of 62 years. She too is a strength and foundation of our family. We must care for her like Dick did throughout of his life. Even though he is physically gone, his spirit will watch over her soul and all the souls that had the privilege of knowing him.
