Robert (Bob) Eckstein, entered peacefully into rest February 15, 2017 in Fremont, CA. Born in Eureka, California to Joseph Eckstein and Lois Foltz, he was 90 years old. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bob worked as a Compensation Analyst and enjoyed playing sports like football, basketball, baseball and golf. He also acted in Alameda Little Theater. Bob was known by the sports community as Coach E. He coached Fremont American Little League Baseball and Fremont Football and also coached football at Kennedy High School for many years, as well as baseball, golf, and girls' softball. He loved his family and always supported their teams and events. He will be remembered as a funny, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Kathleen Eckstein, daughter Karyn (Larry) Noble, son Robert (Bonnie) Eckstein, 3 grandchildren Nikolette, Alyson, and Tyler and 5 great grandchildren Evelyn, Baylis, Adalyn, Rosalyn and Payson. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 27th at 2 pm at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to your favorite charity.
