January 23, 1936 - November 12, 2016 Ruth J. Petersen was called home to the Lord, at the age of 80, on November 12, 2016 in Austin, Texas with family at her side . Ruth was born January 23, 1936, in Downing, Wisconsin and has been a 20-year Sonora resident, and previously a long-time resident of Fremont. She enjoyed making dolls, various crafts, collecting baseball cards and stamps . Ruth was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Sonora . Ruth was the beloved wife of, Glen Petersen of Sonora; devoted mother of, Mike Green, Jeff Green, Todd Green and wife Cheryl, Karen Hansen and husband Troy, and Melissa Perry, Michael Petersen, Timothy Petersen, Daniel Petersen and the late Jennifer Conklin; dearest sister of, Mary Costello and husband Chuck, and Carol Doty; loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 13880 Joshua Way, Sonora. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mathew's Lutheran Church. Ruth will be laid to rest at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. 'Rest in peace, our sweetest angel.
