Sara Coria Jaimes

Sara Coria Jaimes was born in Wilmington (a neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA), one of 10 children of Antonio Coria and Maria Villacana Coria. As a toddler, the Coria family settled in San Joaquin, California. Around 1939 the family relocated to Newark, CA with assistance of a family member.  They resided in Newark for three years before moving to Decoto, which is now Union City. After living in Decoto for several years, her parents acquired property on 9^th street between E and F Street.

Sara attended Decoto Elementary School and continued at Washington High School located in the community of Centerville, which is not part of Fremont. She graduated in 1948. She continued her education by attending beauty school in Oakland and obtained her Cosmetology license. She eventually opened her own beauty shop in her converted garage where she operated if for almost 20 years.

Sara met her future husband, Alfonso Jaimes in September of 1947 at a dance in Oakland. They married on February 6, 1949, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, which was situated on H and 13^th street at the time.

They purchased their home in Union City on 9^th Street, four blocks away from her parents’ home. They resided there for the remainder of their lives. During this period, they raised their six children.

Sara leaves behind 5 children (spouses), 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren

A vigil for Sara will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Our Lady of the Rosary, 703 C Street, Union City, CA with a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA to follow.
