Satoshi “Sat” Sekigahama, 89, passed away peacefully at home in Fremont, CA on September 8, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Sat was born on October 8, 1933, in Fremont, CA, attended local schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. All throughout high school, he worked on his family farm on Thornton Avenue. In 1956, he was drafted into the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. Afterwards, he worked for Lawrence Livermore Lab from 1960 to 1966. He started working for Fairchild/National Semiconductor in 1966 and retired in 1998.
Sat enjoyed traveling, primarily around the US, and also visited several international locations. He had a passion for taking pictures when he traveled. When at home, he was either tending to his garden, tinkering at his workbench, or working on home improvement projects.
Sat is survived by his devoted wife, Kim, of 59 years; his beloved children, Scott Sekigahama and Kathy (Gordon) Jang; loving grandchildren, Tyler & Emily Sekigahama and Kaitlyn & Kristen Jang; dear siblings, Jim (Elly) Sekigahama, Tad (Kiyo) Sekigahama, Yuki (Paul) Nomura, Joyce (Jerry) Tahira, Darlene (Yoshio) Fujiwara, and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in October.
