Shirley A. Glavin

shirley glavin
Shirley Anne Warntjes Glavin entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2016. She passed away peacefully in her home in Fremont, with her family by her side. She was a woman with a kind and pure heart who always tried to remind others of the simplest, easiest rule in life, that if you can't say something nice, it is better to not say anything at all. Coincidentally, she was also known to be a much quieter individual than most. She loved soap operas, gardening, cooking shows, and reading the newspaper. Additionally, she really enjoyed the strategic game of solitaire and would play the game for hours, whether she won or not. She grew up in Hayward, CA. Shirley met the love of her life, Martin, in July of 1955, and they married quickly afterward. Together, they started their life and built their family. She will always be remembered as being extremely proud of her family. Shirley is survived by four children, Cindy (and Steve Dicherico of Tracy, Ca,) Ann (and Mario Lyman of Fremont, Ca,) Jim (and Levy Glavin of Castro Valley) and Davona (and Phil Ortega of Fremont, Ca.) She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandsons. She was also very excitedly awaiting the upcoming arrival of yet another great grandson, due in August, and is also survived by nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved as her own. She is now reunited with her love, Martin, and is also preceded in death by her father, James Warntjes, mother Lucinda Gordon, sister Sharon, Sister Donna, and brother James. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 23rd, at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 24th, at Holy Spirit Church. Following the mass, Shirley will be taken to her final resting place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary in Hayward, CA.

May the love she gave you all continue to reflect in how you love one another and that you find comfort in that.
