Sister Adrienne Andreani, SHF, died peacefully at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Holy Family in Fremont on May 11, 2016 at the age of 77. She was born on December 9, 1938, in Fort Bragg, California, and entered the Sisters of the Holy Family from Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish there on July 2, 1960, at the age of 21.
After her initial formation, Sister Adrienne was the infirmarian at the Holy Family Motherhouse for two years, and then served in parishes in the dioceses of San Jose and Monterey. In 1979 she went to St. Vincent's Day Home in Oakland to do clerical work; she remained there until 2003 in various capacities, including Parent Coordinator and Director of Health and Nutrition.
Sister Adrienne was already a nurse when she joined the Sisters, and brought her nursing skills to bear in her work as infirmarian and at the day home. She was a very caring person and a skilled nurse, according to sisters who were in her care. She loved animals, especially rabbits, and seemed happiest when she was introducing her two loves to each other: rabbits to children and vice versa.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 24, at 4:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Motherhouse in Fremont. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma on Wednesday morning, May 25, at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Sisters of the Holy Family, PO Box 3248, Fremont, CA 94539.
