Sister Dorothy Casper O.P. Resident of Fremont Sister Dorothy Casper died on Wednesday, August 7, at Saint Martin's Residence at the Dominican Sisters' Motherhouse in Fremont. She was 86 years old. Born on January 24, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, Sister Dorothy was a Dominican Sisters for 68 years. Her principal active ministry was Catholic education which brought her to the following schools: Saint Ignatius School, Los Angeles; Saint James Girls School, San Francisco; Sacred Heart High School, Los Angeles; Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Pasadena; Saint Michael High School, Los Angeles; Marycrest High School, Portland. Sister Dorothy also served as corporation treasurer at Immaculate Conception Academy, San Francisco; Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Pasadena; and Marycrest High School, Portland. While at the Motherhouse, Sister served as treasurer for several years. Her final service while at the Motherhouse was hospitality and community service until her brief illness. Sister Dorothy is survived by her sister – Sister Evelyn Casper and a brother, Donald William Casper and other relatives as well as many friends and the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dominican Sisters' chapel, 43326 Mission Boulevard, Fremont. Burial in God's Acre, the Dominican Sisters' Cemetery, will follow Mass. Memorials may be made to the Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund or Mother Pia Backes Education Fund, 43326 Mission Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94539 or the Vision of Hope Fund 1555 – 34th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94612.
