Sister M. Jacinta Elizabeth Ann Fiebig

Sister M. Jacinta Fiebig, SHF November 15, 1928 – March 24, 2016 Sister M. Jacinta Fiebig, SHF, died peacefully at AlmaVia of San Francisco on March 24, 2016. She was born Elizabeth Ann Fiebig on November 15, 1928, in Alamagordo, New Mexico, and entered the Sisters of the Holy Family on July 2, 1949 at the age of 20. Sister Jacinta served in various parishes and day homes in California, Nevada and Utah until she agreed to spend one summer in service in home visitation in Rapid City, South Dakota. That summer led to an eight-year stay from 1980-1988, serving in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Called from her beloved parish in South Dakota, Sister Jacinta returned to Oakland, California, to begin a six-month orientation in the AIDS Resource Center. On her second day, she found herself the day center director and a member of the staff. She later wrote a book sharing some of her experiences at the Center and detailing how she had grown during her time there. Since leaving the AIDS Resource Center, Sister has been involved in volunteer ministries, and has until recently lived at the Motherhouse in Fremont. About three months ago, she was transferred to AlmaVia of San Francisco, where she has been visited regularly by Sisters, friends and family. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, at 4:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Motherhouse in Fremont. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma at a later date.
