Sister Mary Joan Doran

Sister Mary Joan Doran, O.P. passed away at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Fremont on Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was 99 years old and a resident of Fremont for fifty-two years. Sister Mary Joan was a teacher and librarian in California and Oregon schools for twenty years. In 1967, she began a forty year ministry in the Finance and Development Departments of the Dominican Sisters. When her physical strength diminished, Sister Joan inspired others through her gift of prayer. She is survived by family members in Washington and Oregon and the Dominican Sisters. Rosary and viewing will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Dominican Sisters' Chapel, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 5:15 p.m. Burial will be Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 8:20 a.m. Donations may be sent to Dominican Sisters' Building Fund or Vision of Hope, 43326 Mission Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94539-5829.
