Sister Mary Joseph Lyons

Sister Mary Joseph Lyons died on Friday, November 27, at St. Martin Residence, Dominican Sisters' Motherhouse, in Fremont. She was 82 years old. Born in San Francisco, Sister Mary Joseph was a Dominican Sister for 62 years. Her ministry was Catholic education in San Francisco, Oakland, Newark and many schools in CA and Oregon. Predeceased in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Lyons and her sister Mary (May) Lyons, she is survived by her loving sisters, Catherine Lyons, Peggy Ryan, seven nieces and nephews (who affectionately call her 'Auntie Jo') and many cousins in Ireland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 11:30a.m. at the Dominican Sisters Chapel, 43326 Mission Blvd., Fremont. Burial in God's Acre, the Dominican Sisters Cemetery, will follow the Mass.
