Sister Teresa Helen Baumann

Sister Teresa Baumann, OP March 26, 1923 -- July 12, 2017 Sister Teresa Baumann, formerly Sister Anthony Marie, was born in San Francisco on March 26, 1923, to Antonia and Anton Baumann. She attended St. Anthony Elementary School and Notre Dame High School in San Francisco and entered the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose in 1940. Her higher education was completed at Queen of the Holy Rosary College, Mission San Jose, and Loyola University, Los Angeles. Sister served in the ministry of Catholic education in the Dioceses of San Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles for 35 years. In 1980 she transitioned to pastoral ministry, serving as Chaplain at Providence hospital, Oakland for 13 years followed by eleven years of part time pastoral care at the Dominican Sisters’ Motherhouse in Fremont, CA. On July 12, 2017 Sister Teresa died peacefully in St. Martin’s Residence at the Motherhouse. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Dominican Sisters’ Motherhouse Chapel on July 18, 2017 at 5:00 pm, with interment in God’s Acre.
