Valentino Peter Pianetta

valentino pianetta

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Valentino (98), or as everyone called him “Tino”, passed peacefully at his Fremont home of 68 years. Beloved husband of Gloria for 72 years, who passed in 2022, father of James, Janet (Mark), Jeanne (Michael), and Joseph. Grandfather to 9 and great grandfather to 7 with 1 more on the way.  Predeceased by parents Ernesto and Adaleisa Pianetta, sister Adele Camisa, and brother John Pianetta.

A caring and devoted father with a heart of gold and bear hugs for all, Tino loved family parties and our local sports teams in his retirement. After serving in World War II, Tino joined his father and brother in their vegetable farming business in the East Bay farmlands of yesterday, growing cauliflower in the winter and lettuce and corn in the summertime. He was a tireless worker who provided well for his family. His devotion to farming was only surpassed by his love of his family, food, drink, and grand parties. We love him dearly.

  1. CandleTo the Pianetta family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Tino was so well loved. My late husband Lou would tell me how Tino would come to the Cardio Rehab class and hand everyone a towel. After class, he would drop off chocolate bars to the nurses and people at the front desk. He was so kind with that wonderful smile of his. Tino will be missed. Love to you all, Marjie Staffaroni

  2. John, Janet, Jeanne, and Joseph
I was away when heard the news of Tino’s passing. I was with the entire Beretta Family at the time and wish to convey everyone’s appreciation and fond memories of Tino. Marco, Bruce, and I had the pleasure of working for John and Tino in summer at the packing shed; hunting on the farms; and going to school with John and Janet. We will never forget the hard work and kindness that Tino always had with a great smile. All our best to the family at this time.
    David Beretta
