Vernon passed away peacefully at his home in Fremont, CA. He was 86 years young. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia, his sons, Vernon and Richard, his daughters, Theresa and Kathleen, his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a career U.S. Navy man, joining the service on Jun 23, 1949. He rose to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer during his twenty plus years of active duty, seeing action in both the Korean conflict and Vietnam, until his retirement in Dec of 1969. Vernon married his sweetheart, Cecilia on Jan 24, 1953 at St. Anthony's Church in Fairfield, CT. She was his lifelong and loving companion for over 63 years. Throughout his life he constantly strived to learn new skills and remain current with the latest technology, including earning his AA degree from Ohlone College at the age of 53. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, teaching his children the meaning of love and family. He was truly a gentle-man. Memorial Mass will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 41933 Blacow Rd, Fremont, CA. In Lieu of Flowers donations may be to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or donor's favorite charity.
