Viola Rosebell Koonze

Viola Koonze, born Viola Rosebell Neisse, entered the world on February 6, 1926 in Leslie Township, Minnesota. She passed away on August 2, 2021 surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her Fremont home. Viola grew up as a farm girl in Minnesota and as soon as she graduated high school made plans to move out west to California to live with her sister Rosie and brother-in-law Dale. She met Robert Koonze at a family BBQ and they went on to enjoy 65 beautiful years of marriage together, raising 4 children and subsequently traveling the world. Viola loved being a mother and grandmother, and she was amazing at it. She and Bob were so proud of their home and it was the center of countless family holidays and celebrations. Although she was preceded in death by 3 of her children, Karen, Tim & Doug as well as Bob, Viola spent the final years of her life enjoying time embraced by her family and loving caregiver Pou.

Service will be held on August 11, 2021 at 9:30am at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Viola’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
